Stories of Success: #WeOut Facebook Live Event

The #WeOut Facebook Live Event that I managed is one of those jobs that you just can’t help but be proud of.

#WeOut

Working with OneUnited Bank’s PR and Marketing Agency and coordinating several creative resources (including professional lighting and audio specialists) I was able to conceptualize and execute not only a digital and social media marketing campaign to promote this Facebook Live event, but also execute it with a lean crew.

The goal of the event was to livestream an event that garnered more reach, more views, and more engagement than the previous livestream events the bank had held. Across the board this meant double-digit growth, improvement of audio and video capture and delivery, and ensuring that we were engaging any and all viewers that participated in the chat.

Over the course of 14 days I

  • Created the plan for chat engagement
  • Created an RFP for the AV needs for the event
  • Created all digital and print marketing materials to pre-promote the event
    • Including exterior and interior branded decorations
    • Google Display ads
    • Geo-targeted Facebook ads
    • Eventbrite and Facebook events
    • Wrote, designed, and created the send schedule for the event promotional emails to the bank’s subscriber list
  • Created the “dry run” plan
  • Created the influencer outreach plan for the event

With the right people and right tools in place, I was able to produce and deliver to all of our goals. There were over 100,000 viewers of the livestream. To date it has reached over 230,000 people on Facebook, and was the second highest livestream event in regards to user engagement for the bank.

And I did all this with 1 guy working an audio mixer, 1 guy running the livestream camera, and myself managing and directly engaging with everyone in the livestream chat.

What I’m most proud of is just how well all things came together to deliver a truly unique and engaging experience without the need for a lot of “flash.”
